Mehrajganj: A robbery case has come to light in Maharajganj district of Uttar Pradesh. In this case, three police personnel were arrested on Thursday, while the other nine have been suspended. Senior Superintendent of Police, Gorakhpur, Jogesdra Kumar has informed that the police has recovered Rs 19 lakh cash, gold worth about Rs 12 lakh, silver of Rs 4 lakh and a car from the spot of the incident. Police said that six persons including three policemen from Palli Ganj area of Gorakhpur were charged with looting a jeweller and another jeweller employee. The victim Deepak Sharma and Raju Verma came to Gorakhpur by bus last Wednesday morning and grabbed the second bus for Lucknow. Police said that in the meantime, six suspects boarded the bus and asked the two victims to descend. He then snatched a bag full of cash, gold and silver from Deepak and Raju. Not only that, the miscreants beat the victims and got out of it. With the help of CCTV footage, the suspects have been identified and arrested. An official said that the people who have been arrested include Sub Inspector Dharmendra Yadav, Constable Mahendra Yadav and Santosh Yadav. All three have been suspended and their expulsion is under process. Basti Superintendent of Police Hemraj Meena said that nine others have also been suspended for not coming into duty.
