Uttarakhand Statehood Day, PM Modi extends greetings

New Delhi:  On Uttarakhand's statehood day on Wednesday, November 9, India Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted the state and praised its residents for their extraordinary contributions to nation-building across many sectors. The Prime Minister also hoped that Uttarakhand will continue to advance in the years to come.

"Greetings on Statehood Day to the people of Uttarakhand. This is a state that is very connected to the natural world and spirituality. People from this state are significantly advancing the country in a wide range of fields. May Uttarakhand continue to advance in the upcoming years "stated PM Modi in a tweet.

Uttarakhand Day also called as "Uttarakhand Divas", is celebrated as the state foundation day of Indian state Uttarakhand. It is observed annually on 9 November. 

On the State Foundation Day, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami paid respects at the court's martyrs memorial.

"The establishment of the state of Uttarakhand was 22 years ago. I give tribute to the state's revolutionaries and martyrs. We are committed to constructing Uttarakhand according to their visions "Dhami said.

On State Foundation Day in Dehradun, the Chief Minister also opened an exhibition held at the BJP office. On this day in 2000, Uttarakhand became the 27th state in India.

After a protracted protest, the hill state was separated from Uttar Pradesh on November 9, 2000, by the BJP government.
