Uttarakhand: Many families to get ownership rights over Nazul land, find out how?

Dehradun: The government is going to give legal ownership rights to thousands of houses occupying Nazul land in Uttarakhand. On Friday, Union Affairs Minister Banshidhar Bhagat introduced the Uttarakhand Nazul Land Management, Management and Disposal Bill, 2021 on the table of the Assembly. The Bill will be passed after talks on Saturday. According to official sources, thousands of people occupy Nazul land across the state. According to Rudrapur BJP MLA Rajkumar Thukral, 22,000 families occupy Nazul land in Rudrapur alone, which will benefit. According to the Parliamentary Affairs Minister, the enactment of the Act after the passage of the Bill on Saturday will give an opportunity to the people occupying Nazul land in Haldwani, Udhamsingh Nagar, Dehradun and Haridwar in Nainital to freehold their land as per rules. There are about 50,000 families in the state who can take advantage of it.

Some of the major provisions in the Bill are:- - BPL cardholders will not have to pay any fee for freeholding up to 50 sq. - All applications received within six months will have to be disposed of by the concerned officers in the next six months. - Persons who had applied earlier have been exempted from freeholding nazul land at the same circle rate.

The fee will have to be paid according to the circle rate rates (in residential category):- -Up to 200 sqm: Leaseholders who have complied with the terms of the lease will have to pay 25 per cent of the prevailing circle rate, 30 per cent to those who did not renew the lease, who did not comply with the terms of the lease, 60 per cent. -201-500 sqm: Leaseholders who comply with lease terms 35%, non-renewers 50%, non-compliance 80% -More than 501 sq m: Those who followed the lease terms will have to pay 60% of the circle rate, 70% for non-renewers and 110% for those who do not comply with the lease conditions.

These rates will be applicable on commercial nazul land:- -Up to 200 sq m: 40% of the circle rate will be payable to those who do not violate the terms of lease, 50% to those who do not renew the lease, 80% to those who do not comply with the terms and conditions. -201-500 sq m: Those who follow lease conditions will have to pay 50% of circle rate, 70% for non-renewers and 100% for non-compliance. -Above 501 sq m: 80% will be payable to those who comply with the terms of lease, 90% to non-renewers and 130% to non-compliance.
