Uttarakhand govt announces free vaccine for 50 lakh people

Dehradun: The Uttarakhand Cabinet has approved free immunization of all people in the age group of 18 to 45 years to prevent corona infection. It has been claimed that those who will be vaccinated against corona will have a population of 50 lakh. 450 crores. The vaccine will include about 90 percent covishield and 10 per cent covaxine.

Briefing about the virtual cabinet meeting held in the presence of CM Tirath Singh Rawat on Monday, official spokesperson and Cabinet Minister Subodh Uniyal said that the DG Health Medical Education Department has been authorized to make an immediate advance payment to ensure that the vaccine is supplied to the state at the earliest. While Secretary Industry Sachin Kurve has been entrusted with the responsibility of providing vaccines. Subodh Uniyal said that a provision has also been made to ensure an adequate supply of remdesivir injection and 100% advance payment for early supply.

An official spokesperson said that a committee headed by Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi has been constituted to address the problems of workers. Additional Chief Secretary Personnel and Secretary Finance have also been made a member.
