The decision to rename the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link and the investment approvals were made on the occasion of the 140th birth anniversary of the Hindutva ideologue. Last month, Eknath Shinde had previously announced the renaming of the Versova-Bandra Sea Link after Savarkar. The upcoming Versova-Bandra Sea Link will connect Andheri to the Bandra-Worli Sea Link as part of the coastal road project. Construction of the sea link is expected to be completed by the end of this year. The Bandra-Versova Sea Link, now known as the Swatantrya Veer Savarkar Sea Link, is currently under construction in Mumbai. Stretching over a distance of 17.17 kilometers (10.67 miles), this bridge will connect Versova, a neighborhood in the suburb of Andheri, to the Bandra-Worli Sea Link in Bandra. With its eight lanes, the sea link aims to alleviate traffic congestion in the metropolitan city, particularly during peak hours.
