Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar visits Mahakumbh, takes dip in Sangam, offers prayers

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar visited Mahakumbh on Saturday, 01st February 2025. He took the ceremonial dip in the Sangam while accompanied by priests. Prior to his visit on Saturday, circle officer Pratima Singh confirmed the attendance of the Vice President but did not disclose the details of Jagdeep Dhankar’s schedule at the event.

The Vice President was welcomed by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath upon his arrival in Prayagraj to attend the Mahakumbh 2025. Apart from the Vice President, the CM Yogi Adityanath along with 116 diplomats of 73 countries also visited the grand event. Jagdeep Dhankar arrived in a separate plane, the diplomats in another. Notably, the ambassadors from enemy nations Ukraine and Russia also arrived for the event.

 

Jagdeep Dhankar and the delegates took the holy bath at Sangam after which he worshipped at the Triveni Sangam. Jagdeep Dhankar will stay in the fair area for about 5 hours. He will also visit Akshayvat and Bade Hanuman Mandir Corridor. While Yogi Adityanath is set to attend the Pattabhishek ceremony at Satua Baba’s camp which was scheduled around 4 pm.   

Jagdeep Dhankar visited Mahakumbh after the recent stampede, the recent toll that stands at 48 now. The Uttar Pradesh DGP has deployed seven senior officials ahead of the Basant Panchmi Snan on Monday. The State Government had earlier assigned seven IAS officers for the security and crowd management.

The President of India Draupadi Murmu will visit the Mahakumbh on February 10 at the grand event. While the Prime Minister’s visit is scheduled on February 5.

The security arrangements are already tightened in the light of the visit of the President, Prime Minister and the Vice-President.
