Vietnam: During the Lunar New Year vacation, Vietnam's domestic tourism reached more than 6 million tourists. Vietnam's Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism reported that 6.1 million domestic travellers visited tourist destinations across the country during the nine-day Lunar New Year holiday. On Sunday, the Lunar New Year holiday came to a close. Domestic tourists surpassed the 5.2 million recorded in December 2021, bringing in more than 25 trillion Vietnamese dongs ($1.1 billion) in tourism earnings during the most important holiday of the year.According to reports, southern Tay Ninh province had the most visitors, with 595,000, followed by southern Ba Ria-Vung Tau province and central highlands Lam Dong province. Despite the fact that Hanoi suspended festivities and activities due to fears over Covid-19, the Vietnamese capital city welcomed 105,000 tourists for the vacation. The majority of the visitors came from adjacent provinces such as northern Bac Giang, Ha Nam, and Thai Binh. According to the Ministry of Tourism, Vietnam hopes to attract 65 million tourists this year, up 150 percent from 2021, including five million foreigners, generating 400 trillion Vietnamese dongs ($17.6 billion). It has suggested resuming all inbound and outbound tourism on March 31, when the country is scheduled to finish delivering the third Covid-19 vaccine shot. According to the General Statistics Office, Vietnam only received 157,300 international arrivals in 2021, a drop of 95.9% on an annual basis, owing primarily to the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic.
