Electrical Engineer turned Producer Vijay Bhatt gave thought-provoking films to Hindi film industry

Vijay Bhatt was a Hindi filmmaker director and writer. He was born on May 12, 1907, in Palitana, District Bhavnagar, Gujarat. He founded Prakash Pictures, a film production company under which about 60 films were produced. Bhatt came to Mumbai with his elder brother Shankarlal Bhatt when he was young where he enrolled at St. Severs College and later received a diploma in Electrical Lightning and Traction.

After having a diploma from Electrical, he started his career with Bombay Electric Supply and Tramves Company Limited, he had already written a script for Gujarati cinema, but his life took a watershed turn when he met Ardeshir Irani, Irani produced 2 scripts of Bhatt, named 'Paani Me Aag' and 'Gulam'.

Vijay Bhatt wrote the script of Rakkha and 'Vidhi Ka Vidhaan' as a film writer in the Hindi cinema. After that, Bhatt finally produced his first silent film 'Dilli Ka Chaila', after which he made several Hindi, Gujarati, and Marathi films. His film Ram Rajya proved to be a huge hit. He produced many famous Hindi films, some of which are Ram Rajya, Baiju Bawra, Goonj Uthi Shehnai, and Himalaya Ki God Me. Vijay Bhatt passed away on October 17, 1993, at the age of 86.
