Wrestler Vinesh Phogat recovered from COVID19; tested negative twice

The country's top female wrestler Vinesh Phogat has recovered from Corona infection and her test reports have come negative twice. But the women wrestler is going to live in isolation as a precaution. 24-year-old Vinesh could not participate in the 'Khel Ratna' award because she was found infected before the online National Sports Awards ceremony on August 29.

Wrestler Vinesh tweeted "I had my second corona test yesterday (Tuesday) and I am happy to announce that my result has come negative". Vinesh, the only Indian woman wrestler who has qualified for the Tokyo Olympics, has said that she would prefer to remain in seclusion for some more time. She further said "This is a fantastic thing but as a precaution, I am going to live in isolation. Thanks, everyone for the prayers". Vinesh Private coach Volare Echoes is still in Belgium and she was involved in training with Om Prakash Dahiya. Dahiya has also been found corona infected and may have got infected during training".

Om Prakash was selected for the Dronacharya Award and he too could not get this award on 29 August. The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) was forced to postpone the women's national training camp in Lucknow due to the Corona pandemic. The camp was to start on 1 September.
