Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar highlighted a serious concern on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, during an event marking the start of yearlong celebrations for the 75th anniversary of the adoption of India's Constitution. Dhankhar invoked the words of Dr. BR Ambedkar, warning that "our independence will be put in jeopardy a second time" if political parties prioritize creed over the nation.
In his address, Dhankhar also cautioned against using disturbances as a political strategy, stating that such actions threaten the stability of democratic institutions. He emphasized the importance of restoring the "sanctity of our democratic temples" through constructive dialogue, debate, and meaningful discussions to effectively serve the people.

Reflecting on the Constitution, Dhankhar praised its design, which established the three pillars of democracy—Legislature, Executive, and Judiciary—each with clearly defined roles. "Democracy is best nurtured when its constitutional institutions work in harmony, adhering to their respective areas of jurisdiction," he said. He stressed that maintaining domain exclusivity is crucial for these state organs to make the best contributions towards India's prosperity and fairness.
The event saw notable figures, including President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, and other senior leaders, participating. As part of the celebration, a commemorative coin and stamp were released. Additionally, several publications were unveiled, including "Making of the Constitution of India: A Glimpse" and "Making of the Constitution of India and its Glorious Journey." The president also presented Sanskrit and Maithili translations of the Constitution.
