SENEGAL: The Indian diaspora has built great goodwill for India through their achievements and contributions to Senegal's development, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu said during a reception hosted by community members in Dakar. This year marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between India and Senegal. According to the Indian Embassy's website in Dakar, Senegal has a population of around 500 Indians. The majority of them work for Indian enterprises, particularly those who are implementing development projects using India's Lines of Credit. Some of them are in charge of their own companies. On the second phase of his three-nation journey to Gabon, Senegal, and Qatar, the Vice President arrived in Dakar on Wednesday. On Friday, Vice President Naidu attended a reception organised by the Indian community in Dakar, according to the Vice President's official Twitter account, which also shared photos from the occasion. "Through their achievements and contribution to Senegal's progress, the Indian diaspora has produced great goodwill for the country," the Vice President remarked, noting that there is a strong Indian community in Africa. They have truly been true Indian cultural ambassadors." Naidu and Senegalese President Macky Sall conducted extensive talks on Thursday, during which the two countries agreed to increase cooperation in areas including as defence, agriculture, railways, health, and energy.
