VVS Likely to Coach India for 1st T20I vs England

According to reports, former Indian batsman VVS Laxman is likely to be seen next as a coach of the Indian cricket team for their first T20I match against England on July 7. The current head of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) also previously accompanied a second-string Indian side as a coach in the recently concluded T20I series against the Irish.  

 

While Rahul Dravid coached the India side, comprising of all the senior players flew to the UK to prepare for the ongoing rescheduled fifth test match against England, VVS and Hardik Pandya led the Indian team, comprising of the young players played against Ireland. 

 

According to various sources, the senior players, including, Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant, and Jasprit Bumrah, are likely to be given a rest for the first T20I against the poms. 

 

However, all the senior players will return for the second T20I with skipper Rohit Sharma who is expected to lead for the first match too. Sharma was ruled out of the Edgbaston Test after testing positive, however, he was seen practicing in the nets again. 

 

As far as the three lions are concerned, the hosts will be led by Jos Buttler, who has an ongoing spectacular form, after being the top-scoring batsman in IPL-2022. 

 

Under VVS’s pedagogy, the second-string won both of the matches against Ireland on July 26 and July 28. Laxman will coach the Young Indian side for the first match, where Dravid and the team will take over the second one.
