New Delhi: Team India's young all-rounder Washington Sundar is celebrating his 23rd birthday today. He made his Test debut for India in the fourth and final Test against Australia at the Gabba in Brisbane. He was included in the playing XI when Ravichandran Ashwin got injured. Appreciating his excellent performance with both bat and ball, he soon became the hero of Indian fans. In this match, Sundar bowled brilliantly and took a total of four wickets, as well as scored 62 runs in the first innings to take India out of the crisis and then scored 22 runs in the second innings. It was a great start for Sundar. In the Gabba Test, Sundar made Australia's main batsman Steve Smith his first Test victim. He also sent Cameron Green and Nathan Lyon to the pavilion with figures of 3/89 in the first innings. After Australia scored 369 runs in the first innings, there was pressure on Team India to make a solid start. However, the Indian top order faltered and when Rishabh Pant was dismissed, the team's score was at 186/6. After this, Sundar and Shardul Thakur took the lead. The pair added 123 runs for the seventh wicket. This is the highest seventh-wicket partnership for India at the Gabba. Thanks to these two, India reached 336 in the first innings and Australia's hopes of a big lead were dashed. In the second innings, Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant was the hero. Pant played an unbeaten inning of 89 runs and India got a spectacular victory in Test cricket. After succeeding in his debut Test, Sundar has also named his dog after his debut venue Gabba.
