New Delhi [India], Feb 5: The first trailer for former WWE wrestler Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s action spectacular of 2018, Skyscraper, was released during the Super Bowl on Monday morning. A 30-second spot during the major sporting event comes with a reported price tag of nearly Rs 32 crore. And by the looks of this 45-second trailer, Johnson has more than enough money to spend. Along with Rampage, Skyscraper is the star’s second big action movie of the year. He is currently basking in the phenomenal success of Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, which has earned over $850 million worldwide which is magnificent just like Dwayne Johnson. The film is directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber, who previously made Central Intelligence with the star. Skyscraper blends all the elements one has come to associate with The Rock’s movies, there is a family (and daughters) in need of protecting and he even delivers a variation of that ‘Daddy’s gotta go to work’ line. There are gravity-defying action set-pieces and larger-than-life villains.Skyscraper looks like a cross between Die Hard and the Towering Inferno. The Rock plays a former FBI hostage rescue team leader whose family is trapped inside a 240-floor building, which is being held siege by a terrorist. Skyscraper also stars Neve Campbell, Pablo Schreiber and Chin Han. It’s set in China, so it’s target audience is decided. The film is scheduled to release on July 13.
