''We don't want to be a dumping ground for Bangladeshi laborers'', Malaysia express concern

Kuala Lumpur: Malaysia, the world's sixth-richest Islamic country, is worried about the increase in the number of Bangladeshi workers. Tell me, the official religion of Bangladesh is also Islam. Bangladesh has increased the number of agencies sending out workers to 2000, which Has been expressed concern by Malaysian HRD Minister M Sarvanam. He said Malaysia should not then become a dumping ground for Bangladesh workers.

In an interview with Free Malaysia Today, he stated that Bangladesh could not be permitted to deploy such a big number of workers to Malaysia. Only ten Bangladeshi agencies are now permitted to bring employees to Malaysia, a number that Bangladesh has requested the Malaysian government expand by 20 times. For almost a year, the two nations have been debating a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on labour recruitment.

Bangladesh's HRD Minister said he has objected to the latest decision. He said that earlier only 10 companies were allowed to bring workers from Bangladesh, it was to be increased, but not so much. He said the final draft has been prepared and will now be placed in the Cabinet. The final decision will be taken in the next two weeks. Malaysia has also decided to come under international rules and regulations against forced labour.
