Weather update: Thunderstorm, rain predicted over Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh

Widespread rain and thunderstorms are likely over east and Peninsular India. According to the India Meteorological Department latest reports light rain over the Western Himalayan and adjoining northwest India for the next 3-4 days will be observed.

The sudden change in weather is due to Western Disturbances which are now moving away and strong easterly winds, IMD officials said. The weather report read that a thunderstorm along with light to moderate intensity rain has been predicted over parts of Delhi, Kurukshetra, Yamuna Nagar, Shamli, Nagar, Hapur, Garhmukteswar, Gurugram. Also, areas adjoining them will experience the same. In a statement issued at 3 pm the IMD said that this is likely during the next two hours. In a tweet, the Regional Weather Forecasting Centre, New Delhi wrote “Thunderstorm with light to moderate intensity rain with wind speed 10-20 kmph would occur over isolated places of entire Delhi, Kurukshetra, Yamunanagar, Shamli, Nagar, Hapur, Garhmukteswar, Gurugram and adjoining areas during next 2 hours.”

It also predicted light rain with wind speed of 10-20 km per hour in Haryana’s Hodal, Aurangabad, Palwal and in Uttar Pradesh’s Khurja, Barsana and in Rajasthan’s Nadbai and other adjoining areas during the next two hours.
