WhatsApp, owned by Meta, has launched a new Events feature designed to make organizing meetings, gatherings, and other events within group chats easier. According to WABetaInfo, this feature first appeared in the WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.24.9.20 and will soon be available to all users. Previously, the Events feature was limited to Community Group chats, but with this update, it is now extended to regular group chats. How the New Events Feature Works With this new feature, users can create events within group chats by providing details such as the event name, description, date, location, and whether it involves a voice or video call. Group members can then accept or decline the invitation, and the event creator can update the event details as necessary. The report also highlights that, like all other WhatsApp features, events in group chats will remain private, with only participants having access to the details. WhatsApp is also planning to add more features in the future, including event reminders and the ability to set cover photos. In other news, Meta has started rolling out its Meta AI assistant to users in India through WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger. This AI assistant can provide real-time search results from Microsoft and Google and offer insights while users scroll through posts on Facebook.
