Know History - Realizing the need for an official constitution in India after independence, Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar (Dr Bheem Rao Ambedkar) was appointed as its chairman and a drafting committee was formed for this. At the same time, the only purpose of establishing this committee was to draft the Constitution of India, which would be the supreme law of India. At the same time, the Constitution outlines the broad framework of fundamental political codes, structure, powers, procedures and duties of all government institutions and also the fundamental rights and duties of all citizens of India. During this period, the committee tried for several months and submitted the first draft of the constitution to the Constituent Assembly on November 4, 1947. After that with 2 years, 11 months and 18 days of hard work finally came to an end with necessary amendments in the constitution.
