Why did the director of Gadar lash out at this actress?

Anil Sharma, director of the blockbuster film 'Gadar 2', has recently made a serious comment on the current generation of actors. He has spoken openly about the expenses of his fellow actors and their film career.

'Remaining value of less actors'

Anil Sharma said that there are only a few actors left in the film industry who have real value and who can bring the audience to the theatre. He gave the example of South films, whose shows are fully booked 4-5 days in advance. Anil said, "The time is gone when the films of Dharmendra and other big actors used to be booked a week in advance. Now this does not happen. The public is not coming to see you in the theatre. Now people watch films on OTT out of compulsion, that too quickly. You do not even know whether your film is a hit or a flop. You are living only in your own world."

Sources of income of modern actors

Anil Sharma commented that today's actors are mainly earning money from Instagram and ads. He said, "They are not getting anything from cinema because the public is not coming to see them. This is the bitter truth. Except for 3-4 heroes, no one has the power to keep the theatres housefull on Saturdays and Sundays."

The importance of content

Anil Sharma also said that content still plays an important role. He believes that many directors, writers and actors have not seen their world outside Versova and Bandra. He said, "They do not have the right information about what kind of content works in India. In the name of content, all they understand is what works for urban and OTT. Their understanding is limited to that, and they make the same content."

Paparazzi culture and the charm of actors

Anil Sharma also said that the paparazzi culture has killed the charm of actors. He said, “Today's actors are seen all the time on social media, gyms and airports. Why would people pay money to see them in theatres? Actors have become overexposed. The paparazzi culture has killed their charm. Because of this, they may get ads on social media, but the charm of theatre is over. South actors have maintained their charm. People are excited to see them in theatres. If the content is good and the actor is not big, the film still works. At present, neither the content is good nor the hero, only the expenses are increasing.” This comment by Anil Sharma highlights some important discussions going on in the industry and also tells how the film world is changing.
