Chandigarh: Former Punjab CM and Congress leader Charanjit Singh Channi may join the BJP. Sources say that Channi has also met some BJP leaders in Punjab. On the other hand, Congress has also become cautious about Channi joining the BJP. Such speculations have started happening in political circles after Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu came out of jail. In fact, the tussle between Sidhu and Channi was going on even before the elections. Meanwhile, after coming out of jail, Sidhu met with Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi. Since then, the market for speculation about Channi has been hot.
With the release of former Punjab Congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu from jail, discussions are going on in political circles that former Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi may join the BJP. In fact, Channi had disappeared from the political headlines after the humiliating defeat of the Congress in the 2022 Punjab assembly elections. In this election, the Congress had chosen Channi as its face instead of the then state president Sidhu. In this election, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) registered a landslide victory, and with a huge mandate, there is a government led by Bhagwant Mann in the state.
On the other hand, Sidhu is seen in his old demeanour after coming out of jail. He has also met Rahul and Mallikarjun Kharge. He described Rahul Gandhi as a mentor and tried to show his loyalty to the Congress party. Due to Sidhu's activism, Channi's problems are expected to increase. Actually, everyone knows in the politics of Punjab that during the 2022 elections, Sidhu and Channi were seen fighting many times. The result of this was that the Congress was in a bad situation in Punjab, and the AAP took advantage of it. Now it has to be seen whether these discussions regarding Channi prove to be true or not.
