New Delhi: Ahead of presenting the Budget for the upcoming financial year 2023-24, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has brainstormed with several leaders of institutions related to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). During this time many leaders have suggested the Finance Minister to restore the old pension system (OPS). In these meetings held between November 21 and 28, Sangh-related leaders have also suggested setting up of 51 cow-centric universities in the next budget. According to the report, the full budget before the 2024 elections has been suggested to be populist, saying that the minimum support for farmers under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme should be done by linking the increase in income to inflation. Apart from these, it has also been advised to take measures to discourage Chinese imports and create more and more jobs. The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), which has been the ideological source of the BJP at the Centre, and its affiliates have not been in support of the government's fiscal policies since the beginning and have been advising to change them. For example, last year, the RSS passed a resolution to tackle unemployment, suggesting increasing 'self-reliance' for the Indian economy, so that construction industries can develop within the country and reduce dependence on foreign direct investment.
