Willingdon Island to welcome a spice museum soon

The Spices Board planning to set up museum on Willingdon Island to educate them by making it attractive tourists and mariner about the history and growth of the Indian spices industry.

Over 30 raw spices and culinary herbs will be on display. It will outline the history and development of the Indian spices industry through paintings, pictures, brochures and books. 

The museum will have a signature stall for tourists to purchase Indian spices as presents and souvenirs. Chairman of the Spices Board A. Jayathilak will lay the foundation for the museum on Thursday at 11.30 a.m. in the presence of Cochin Port Trust Chairman Paul Antony. The port trust has allotted 15 cents adjacent to the Cochin Heritage Museum at the north end of Willingdon Island for setting up the museum.
