Wimbledon 2018: Nadal to face Russia's Kukushkin in second round

 

London [UK], July 5 (NT): World number one Rafael Nadal will lock the horns with Russian tennis player Mikhail Kukushkin in the second round of the men's singles event ahead of Wimbledon campaign on Thursday.

The 32-year-old initiated his campaign with a comfortable 6-3, 6-3, 6-2 win against his Israeli opponent Dudi Sela in a one-sided opening round encounter.

Worth mention herer Nadal has a 100% winning record against the Russian player. He defeated his Russian opponent in all the three encounters they have played so far.

Their last game was played in the third round of Wimbledon, four years ago, where Nadal won by 7-6, 6-1, 6-1, 6-1 over the Russian.

Meanwhile, Swiss tennis star Roger Federer defeated his Slovak opponent Lukas Lacko 6-4, 6-4, 6-1 in the second-round encounter into the third round of the championship.

Novak Djokovic also advanced the third round after fighting a hard clash against Frenchman Luka Pouille 4-6, 2-6, 7-7, 6-3, 2-6.

On the other hand in the women's singles event, American tennis star and new Momy Serena Williams thrashed Bulgarian tennis player Viktoriya Tomova to get through the third round.

In other encounters of the day, twenty-one ranked Novak Djokovic will cross the swords with 37-ranked Argentina player Horacio Zeballos in his third-round game.
