Violence has been going on in several districts since the arrest of former South African President Jacob Zuma and more than 70 people have died in the violence so far. The situation is so bad that a woman had to throw her child down from the burning building. In The Central Business District of Durban, rioters had earlier started setting fire to shops on Male, leaving the people trapped on the upper floor. The woman was also present upstairs and threw her down to save her son's life. In fact, some of the people present were helping the people trapped in an apartment, when they saw the woman, they reached there and rescued the child. The woman was then rescued and the mother and son met but the woman could not say anything due to shock. It may be recalled that 79-year-old Zuma has been sentenced to 15 months in jail. He himself was arrested last week. In June this year, Jacob was considered a contempt offender because he did not join the investigation into alleged corruption during his presidency. After the same Zuma sentence, his supporters got agitated and started blocking the road demanding his release. Thereafter, the mob started committing violence, and looting and arson started taking place in many cities of South Africa. According to a report, nearly 50 percent of South Africa's population is living in poverty and 32 percent is unemployed in this country.
