After a two-week-long suspension, the United Nations' World Food Program (WFP) has decided to resume operations in western Sudan's North Darfur State. WFP Country Director Eddie Rowe has stated that food distribution has resumed in various parts of North Darfur. Rowe criticised the recent looting and attacks on the agency's warehouses in El Fasher, the state capital, and stressed the need of apprehending and prosecute the offenders. The World Food Programme (WFP) announced the suspension of its activities in North Darfur on December 31, 2021, two days after attacks by unknown armed groups. It is believed that about 5,000 metric tonnes of food were hauled away.
