Winners of clean toilet contest felicitated- On the occasion of World Toilet Day on Thursday, MP Shankar Lalwani, IMC Commissioner Pratibha Pal and other senior officials felicitated the winners of "Mera Swachalaya Sabse Swachh Va Sundar" contest organised by Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC). The programme was organised at Sanwer Road. The first three winners were Jyoti Liladhar of Malwa Mill area, Arpit Nagraj of Ramabai Nagar and Bharti Bichele of Rustom ki Bagicha. The IMC officials said that the participants from 19 zones were awarded, one from each zone. The chief invitiees of the programme also launched a calendar for the year 2021. In this calendar, the photographs of the winners are printed. These photographs are the selfies of the winner participants with their decorated toilets which the participants had sent for the competition. MP Lalwani said it is very fortunate that people of Indore actively participate in such competitions and contribute a lot in making Indore the best city of the country. On the occasion, Commissioner Pal said that earlier people used to urinate openly but now citizens are aware and use public toilets. Pal assured that the people would be given the best of facilities and she expressed the hope that not merely for the competition, people would be keeping their toilets clean throughout the year. Demo Toilet Under the ODF (Open Defecation Free) programme under Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM), two pit toilets were made as part of a demonstration. In this toilet, two pits are made. The second pit starts after filling up of the first pit and the manure is made in them which is used for fertilisers which is used in fields. The fertiliser serves as a nutrient for the soil.
