WPL 2024 Auction: Date, Venues, Teams, and Where to Watch

The 2024 Women's Premier League (WPL) auction date and details have been released,  and set to take place in Mumbai on December 9, 2023. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has disclosed the official player roster for the upcoming season.

Five franchises—Royal Challengers Bangalore, UP Warriorz, Gujarat Giants, Mumbai Indians, and Delhi Capitals—will participate in the auction. A total of 165 players, comprising 61 international and 104 Indian athletes, are up for grabs.

Each team has a spending cap of Rs. 13.5 crore for the WPL 2024 auction. Among the listed players, 56 are capped while 109 are uncapped. Notably, 21 international cricketers are already retained by the franchises before the auction, with 29 players released from their previous contracts.

The auction rules allocate a maximum of 30 slots, including nine reserved for overseas players, with a highest base price of Rs. 50 lakh. Only two players, Kim Garth from Australia and Deandra Dottin from the West Indies, have chosen to enter the top bracket. Additionally, four athletes have a starting bid of Rs. 40 lakh.

In total, five teams have retained 60 players, including 21 foreign players, while 39 players have been released from their current squads.
