Xiaomi India: 9 Years of Empowering Lives

Xiaomi India, the leading brand of smartphones and smart TVs in the country, proudly commemorates nine years of success in India.

As we celebrate this milestone, our commitment remains strong in providing top-notch learning opportunities, promoting sustainable energy, conserving the environment, and empowering marginalized communities, the company said.

Through strategic partnerships, groundbreaking projects, and active community engagement, Xiaomi India is dedicated to creating a positive and sustainable impact, ensuring a brighter and more inclusive future for all.  Throughout the years, Xiaomi brand has become a household name, capturing the hearts of millions of Indian consumers with our innovative products and unwavering dedication to social responsibility.

On the auspicious occasion of our 9th anniversary in the country, Xiaomi India has released a report highlighting the transformative impact we have made on society. During our remarkable nine-year journey, we have achieved significant milestones in India, it said.

In 2020, we joined hands with "Buddy4Study" and pledged Rs 2 crore for scholarships under the Mi Scholarship program, providing educational support to 5,000 underprivileged students pursuing higher education. This initiative ensured that financial constraints did not hinder the aspirations of bright young minds in our nation.

Under our educational initiatives, Xiaomi India launched the "Shiksha Har Haath" program in collaboration with renowned Bollywood celebrity and philanthropist, Sonu Sood, in 2021.

This program has empowered underprivileged children across the country with access to digital learning through smartphones, guaranteeing equal opportunities for quality education.

Amid the challenging times of the Covid-19 pandemic, Xiaomi India extended support by providing 2,500 smartphones to underprivileged children in partnership with Teach for India. This initiative bridged the digital divide, enabling these children to continue their education online without interruption.

In 2022, we partnered with the YouWeCan Foundation to support the education of 200 cancer survivor children by covering their educational expenses. These efforts exemplify our commitment to promoting inclusivity and equal educational opportunities for all.

To reaffirm our dedication to environmental conservation, we collaborated with the Isha Foundation for the "Cauvery Calling" campaign. Through this initiative, we planted 1.8 lakh trees, addressing critical issues such as deforestation, soil erosion, and water scarcity in both 2019 and 2020.

Xiaomi India has also joined forces with United Way India to empower rural communities in Maharashtra's Palghar district with sustainable energy solutions.

These efforts aim to provide zero wood/zero fossil fuel cooking, clean water, and sustainable agriculture, leading to net-zero energy communities for over 1,500 individuals across five villages.

Recognizing the importance of empowering marginalized communities, we partnered with United Way India to enhance the skills and employability of transgender individuals. This collaborative project fosters inclusive environments by providing essential training and support for transgender persons to lead fulfilling lives.

Moreover, Xiaomi India has teamed up with the GlobalHunt Foundation to support skill development in mobile repair. We have also partnered with the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), Ahmedabad, for Project SPARK.

Furthermore, we have introduced Innovative Tinkering Labs (ITL) in collaboration with United Way India. These labs serve as creative hubs within educational institutions, cultivating a culture of innovation, problem-solving, and hands-on learning experiences. They aim to nurture a generation of innovators and entrepreneurs in India, contributing to the nation-building process, it said.
