Yogi Govt withdraws decision of opening detention in Ghaziabad after strong oppose

Lucknow: The Yogi government stayed on the issue of the detention centre being opened in Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh. The government has now withdrawn its decision. The decision was strongly opposed by other opposition leaders including BSP supremo and former UP CM Mayawati. According to sources, the government has withdrawn its decision.

It may be noted that the Yogi government had approved it in the past, which was to be constructed by the Social Welfare Department of the state government. According to the judgement, people who are foreigners and have been sentenced in jails and who have time in going back to their country will be placed in this detention centre. It was only after the central government's order that the Yogi government had decided to make it.

The decision was opposed by BSP supremo and former state CM Mayawati following the Yogi government's decision. Mayawati wrote in a tweet, "Converting Multi-storey Dr Ambedkar SC/S.C hostel built by BSP government in Ghaziabad into the detention centre for illegal foreigners is highly condemnable. This is another testimony to the government's anti-Dalit working style. The government will withdraw it and demand the BSP."
