You can stream shared video while Downloading; Gets Animated GIF Image Support on Android version of Whatsapp

Recently, Whatsapp update its software with two new features- stream videos while downloading and animated GIF image support to all users. These two features are first uploaded on the Beta version of the Whatsapp.

This new Whatsapp is now available on the Google play for downloading with all the additional features. Now the users directly play the video without waiting for complete downloading. It's worth noting that the videos now will still be downloaded to the device as the video is playing. Before this updation, one should download the video first to watch. Downloading should be done manually or automatically as per the setting. If auto-download has been opted through settings, the videos received via WhatsApp will be saved automatically (using Wi-Fi or Cellular Data, depending on the option selected).

This new feature of video streaming on Whatsapp for Android for buffering uses Wi-Fi or cellular data. But it constantly downloads the video in the background of the playing. With the new update, the shared videos on WhatsApp will appear with a play icon instead of a download button. At the bottom of the video dialogue box, the size of the video will be written. When play button is tapped, the video starts streaming depending upon data speed.

The other feature available is only for beta users for now, that are animated GIF image support. Another feature available to users out of beta is the animated GIF image support. It was initially available in August and allowed WhatsApp users in beta to convert 6-seconds video to gif and share it with contacts. The feature recently received a full-fledged support.
