Less sleep can damage your liver

Good sleep is extremely important for our body. It not only maintains our health, but also forms part of a healthy lifestyle along with proper diet and exercise. If someone is not able to sleep at night or is waking up frequently, it could be a sign of liver problems. In fact, lack of sleep can also increase the risk of serious diseases like liver cirrhosis.

Liver and sleep relationship:  A study was conducted at China's Huazhong University of Science and Technology, which found that there is a deep connection between non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and sleep patterns. More than 1 lakh people were included in the research. The results showed that people who do not get good sleep are at greater risk of liver diseases.

Risk of liver cirrhosis due to lack of sleep:  If a person does not get sleep for a long time, it may mean that he is at an increased risk of liver cirrhosis. Cirrhosis occurs when a disease affects the liver for a long time, causing scars to form in the liver. These scars reduce the ability of the liver to function. If this condition persists for a long time, liver failure may also occur.

What is Liver Cirrhosis?: Liver cirrhosis is a serious disease that occurs when the liver remains in a bad condition for a long time. In this disease, the healthy tissue of the liver gradually deteriorates and is replaced by scar tissue. When the liver suffers from cirrhosis, the liver's ability to function decreases. Its symptoms include jaundice, fatigue, loss of appetite, and swelling in the abdomen.

Tips to keep the liver healthy: Get good sleep: Make it a habit to sleep for 7-8 hours at night. Balanced diet: Include fresh fruits, vegetables and fiber-rich foods in your diet. Exercise: Regular exercise has a good effect on liver health. Avoid alcohol: Alcohol consumption is harmful for the liver, minimize it or stop it completely. Medical checkup: If you are experiencing sleep problems or any liver related problem, contact a doctor immediately.
