Youth arrested for rape. kidnap of minor girl in Delhi

NEW DELHI: A 19-year-old boy from Uttar Pradesh was detained for the suspected rape and kidnapping of a minor girl in the Greater Kailash 1 area  of the nation's capital,  Delhi Police said.

The accused has been known as Jitender Kumar.

A complaint was filed at the Greater Kailash police station, said Chandan Chowdhary, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South).

The complainant said, her 13-year-old sister was missing from the home and was likely kidnapped.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police said, "In response to the complaint, an FIR under Section 363 (kidnapping) of the Indian Penal Code was filed, and an inquiry was initiated.

"The police team was able to gather CCTV footage of the area during the course of the inquiry. The girl was sought after in a number of places, including parks, shelter homes, and NGOs. A closer examination of one of the CCTV videos revealed that the girl was seen moving suspiciously with a boy.

"The police team traced the accused's path, and they were able to pinpoint his whereabouts. He was taken into custody near Maharajganj. The young lady was also found. Both were sent to Delhi, said the top official.

Sections 366-A (kidnapping of a minor) and 376 (rape) of the IPC and POCSO 9protection of children from sexual offences) Act were added to the FIR based on the girl's statements.
