A youth allegedly raped a minor girl and fled from his home. A case has been registered at Pulibar Police Station against Deta Gosain, who resides at Mohbandha tea estate on the western outskirts of Jorhat town after an FIR was lodged by the parents of the victim. The parents of the victim girl said the youth raped their daughter on Friday afternoon. The accused has been booked under sections 376 (committing rape) and 511 IPC and Section 4 of the POCSO Act. A police source said the incident was reported on Friday night by the victim girl’s parents, both workers in the Mohbandha tea estate. The source said the youth took advantage of her loneliness as both of her parents were away from home for work in the tea garden. The boy lured her to a nearby house where his sister lives. The youth’s sister was also away at that time and he allegedly raped her in his sister’s house. The boy fled after allegedly committing the act. Police investigation underway.
