Zomato will give 'period' leave to women and transgender employees

New Delhi: Online food delivery company Zomato has now announced a holiday for women and transgender employees for menstruation (period). Now women and transgender workers in the company will be given a ten-day period leave in a year. The company has introduced this rule under the term period policy.

Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal sent an email to his employees on Saturday. It states that the duration of the period should not be confused with any shame or stigma and during this time the workers are completely free to take leave. On giving information, CEO of Zomato Deepinder Goyal has stated that in Zomato we want to encourage a culture of trust, truth and acceptance. From today all women in Zomato as well as transgender employees can avail leave of 10 days duration.

Goyal further states that Zomato understands that women and men are born with different biological reality. It is a part of life. It is our job to ensure that we make room for our needs. Not only this, Goyal wrote to his male employees that they should not be ashamed at all when a female colleague says that she is on period leave.
