Johnny Depp was forced to cancel recent appearances after his doctor advised him against traveling, following a serious injury.
The shows, originally set for May 30, May 31, and June 1 in Manchester, New Hampshire, Boston, Massachussetts, and Bethel, New York, respectively, have been rescheduled for later this summer, according to an announcement by the band.
Bethel Woods Center for the Arts in New York posted the following announcement about the band’s June 1 performance
“Johnny has sustained a painful injury to his ankle following his recent performances and has been advised by his doctor not to travel,” the band’s message reads in part. “He is devastated by this turn of events but looks forward to resting up so all four Vampires can bring their absolute best to the tour in Europe.”
The month of May was a busy one for Johnny Depp, who recently performed in the U.K. on stage during scheduled Jeff Beck tribute concerts. Shortly before his stage shows–in mid-May–Depp greeted press during the Cannes Film Festival, which opened with the new film La Favorite or Jeanne du Barry, a French film in which Depp plays King Henry XV.
During a press conference for Jeanne du Barry, Depp’s personal life was cast into the spotlight yet again, but he handled himself and the obnoxious questions with grace, diplomacy, tact, and the truth. This time, he was even able to finally call out Disney and Universal for their egregious decisions to cut ties with the famed actor solely on the vicious allegations of his ex-wife.
