Ava Johnson, daughter of Dwayne "The Rock," issues a challenge for the company's first-ever singles match
WWE fans are set to get their first real glimpse of Dwayne Johnson’s daughter in the ring.
Rising NXT star Ava – whose father is wrestling legend and Hollywood megastar The Rock – is looking to forge her own path in the family business as a fourth generation wrestler, and she looks set to take another big step in her early career next week.
The ongoing rivalry between Schism – which features Ava, Joe Gacy, Jagger Reid and Rip Fowler – and Diamond Mine Julius Creed, Brutus Creed and Ivy Nile has been simmering for weeks and reached boiling point last night on NXT.
The Creed Brothers – who lost a Loser Leaves NXT match earlier this month – made a shocking return and screwed Reid and Fowler in their NXT Tag Team Championship match, while Nile also got involved.
After the show, Ava laid down a challenge for Nile to face her in the ring on the NXT Heatwave special next week in what would be the former’s first ever singles match.
She said ‘Ivy, your role is essential in the games that the Creeds play, but it is getting so old. So for once, why don’t you step out of the shadows Why don’t you do something for yourself Why don’t you stop being a third wheel
‘How about next week at Heatwave, it’s you and me, and Ivy, after I am done with you, Julius and Brutus will have no choice but to reveal themselves and beg for forgiveness in a desperate attempt to save you.’
It would mark Ava’s one-on-one debut and only her third televised match, following six and eight-person tag matches against Diamond Mine and Chase U respectively.
