CDS General Bipin Rawat: Achievements, and honours of an accomplished Army man
On December 16, 1978, Bipin Rawat joined the 5th battalion of 11 Gorkha Rifles
After becoming Major General, Rawat took over as the General Officer Commanding 19th Infantry Division (Uri).
Rawat commanded MONUSCO, a Multinational Brigade in a Chapter VII mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo
Bipin Rawat became the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C) of Southern Command on January 1, 2016.
On December 17, 2016, Rawat was appointed as the 27th Chief of the Army Staff and assumed office on December 31 of the same year.
He was the third officer from the Gorkha Brigade to become the Chief of the Army Staff
He was awarded several medals for gallantry and distinguished service
