Elon Musk's Career in Tesla

Tesla, Inc. was first Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning founded Tesla Motors in 2003, funding it up until the Series A round of funding.

Prior to Musk's involvement, both men actively participated in the company's early development.

In February 2004, Musk led the Series A round of investment, contributing $6.5 million.

Elon increased his stake in Tesla to a majority position and was elected chairman of the board.

Musk took an active role within the company and oversaw Roadster product design but was not deeply involved in day-to-day business operations.

Eberhard was fired from the company as a result of a series of escalating disputes in 2007 and the financial crisis of 2007–2008.

In 2008, Musk became the organization's CEO and product architect.

Musk, along with Tarpenning and two other people, was named as a co-founder of Tesla in a 2009 lawsuit settlement with Eberhard.

Musk had been the CEO of any automotive manufacturer worldwide for the longest amount of time as of 2019. While still serving as CEO, Musk nominally changed his name to "Technoking" in 2021.
