Elon Musk's Cyber truck vs China's Cyber truck

The Tesla Cybertruck wouldn't be at the top of the list of obvious cars to copy among all the others. After all, the Cybertruck isn't even finished manufacturing yet.

But that is the aim of the T-Mad concept pickup truck from Chinese auto technology company IAT, which was unveiled at the most recent Guangzhou International Automobile Exhibition.

The vehicle, an electric pickup, is expected to have a range of about 800km, though this could be increased with a larger battery pack. It has a similar futuristic appearance to the Cybertruck.

It has four doors that open to reveal a cabin with movable chairs that can be arranged in various ways. Images showed a front driver's seat that could be turned, two seats in the middle of the cabin, one on either side, and then a larger rear seat that faced the front of the car. On the outside, there are two tow hooks and a sizable plastic front bumper.

The release of more information is pending. The market for electric vehicles is expanding, and more and more SUVs are now available. S&P Global Mobility anticipates that in 2023, drivers will buy 10 million EVs, or nearly 14% of the market, but they won't be cheap due to supply chain constraints and inflation.

The Tesla Cybertruck was first unveiled in 2019 to much fanfare but has since experienced delays. Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, however, stated in late 2017 that the company was in the "final lap" of developing the car, which will begin production in the middle of this year.

Tesla executives claimed in October that work was still underway at the Giga Texas factory and that it was in the "tooling" stage. In order to do this, the assembly line must be set up before production can begin. The Cybertruck has been engineered to have the pulling power of an off-road vehicle and the top-notch sports car's speed.

According to the Tesla website, it has "an almost impenetrable exoskeleton, every component is designed for superior strength and endurance, from ultra-hard 30X cold-rolled stainless-steel structural skin, to Tesla armour glass."

In May of last year, Mr. Musk stated, "We have more orders for the first Cybertrucks than we could possibly fill for three years after the start of production.
