Fasting for Lent: How to Fast and Why Christians Do It?

Christian Lent, 40 days of Fasting, begins on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 also known as Ash Wednesday.

The Catholic Christians open the season of Lent this year from the Ash Wednesday, by putting ashes on their foreheads as the Church admonishes

Lent or fasting is traditionally associated with “giving things up” and “giving to those in need”.

Palm Sunday is always the final Sunday of Lent, which is forty days of fasting in the Christian tradition. It is on 2nd April 2023.

Holy Thursday is commemorated annually on the Thursday before Easter and takes place on April 6 this year

Good Friday for the year 2023 is observed on Friday, April 7th. Good Friday is the sixth day of Holy week and is also known as Holy Friday, Great Friday and Easter Friday.

Easter, or Resurrection Sunday, commemorating the resurrection of Jesus from the dead. Easter 2023 will be observed on Sunday, April 9.
