“I’m jealous”, “Steals the show” – Fans in awe as Lionel Messi

Team Alpine racer Pierre Gasly recently shared a series of photos on Instagram, where the first image had a series of signed football jerseys in the background, including that of Lionel Messi.

Gasly, 27, is a French F1 racer, and has signed jerseys of compatriots Adrien Rabiot and Kylian Mbappe.

Grazing the edge of the frame is a signed jersey of Neymar but right at the centre is Gaslys prized possession - a jersey signed by Lionel Messi himself.

Unlike the rest of the jerseys in the frame, Messis jersey was not that of PSG but Barcelona - showing that the Argentines fandom stretches across countries.

Fans commented on the post, refering to the Messi shirt, with one saying Messi joined Barcelona as a kid and rose through their youth academy, La Masia.

He made his first-team debut in 2004 and played for the club for 17 years. He scored 672 goals and laid out 303 assists in 772 games for the La Liga winners.

Messi helped them win ten La Liga and four UEFA Champions League titles along with other trophies during his time at the club.

Lionel Messi won a staggering six Ballon dOrs at the club, with his seventh one coming after joining Paris Saint-Germain. He joined the Parisians in 2021 after running down his contract at Barca.
