In front of Luka Doncic, Ja Morant's remark that "I'm fine in the West" has come back to haunt him

Its been a little over two months since Ja Morant dissed all the Western Conference teams when asaked who he thought was the rival to beat. During All-Star weekend, he was bound to see all the stars from Western Conference teams but he actually made an interview with Luka Doncic sitting next to him

ESPNs Malika Andrews had a chance to ask about the most pressing question but Ja Morant wanted to beat everybody to the punch. By the way, Morant said that phrase to Malika in December.

As soon as they sat down with Malika, he immediately reminded Luka of what he said as they sat next to Jayson Tatum and Donovan Mitchell. The Dallas Mavericks star just laughed it off but Mitchell told Malika to simply ask the question.

She was witty about it by simply asking them to lift their hand if they were comfortable in the West. Morant lifted his hand and stood by his words. Doncic seemed a little more embarrassed by the whole situation and barely put up his hand.

But Morant knows that contrary to the time before the trade deadlines, things in the West are very different now.

Even though we are certain Ja Morants competitie spirit would never allow him to contradict his own words, he must be aware of how exciting the West has become. That recent trade deadline saw two of the Eastern Conferences best players move to the West.

Kevin Durant arrived at Phoenix to play with the Suns in a new super team and Luka just got none other than Kyrie Irving as a teammate. What a way to switch the balance of power in the West. Plus, the Lakers also had a great deadline and are also looking scary.

Memphis Grizzlies are a great young team but they will have a lot more competition then they expected.
