Cristiano Ronaldo is arguably the greatest player in Real Madrid history. The Portuguese icon was sensational during his stay at the Santiago Bernabeu and helped the club reach incredible heights.

His own individual record was something to behold as well, as he won four Ballon d’Ors during those nine years.

There were not many things that Ronaldo failed to achieve during his legendary run in the Royal White jersey. One thing that he could not do though was score a hattrick against Barcelona.

Karim Benzema did that in the most recent El Clasico, as Real Madrid got a brilliant 4-0 win against Barcelona. Not only that, but the Frenchman did it at the Camp Nou, to book Los Blancos’ place in the final of the Copa del Rey.

The Frenchman spent many years in the shadow of Ronaldo. But since the Portuguese star’s departure in the summer of 2018, Benzema has established himself as the face of Real Madrid.

Benzema has been delivering the goods year after year, and it is surprising that he has reached his peak at this stage of his career. The Frenchman is now 35 years of age.

It often feels like Benzema does not get the credit that he deserves for the things that he has achieved during his time at Santiago Bernabeu. The Frenchman is without doubt one of the best players in the club’s history.

The Frenchman has faced his fitness problems this season. But as he showed with his performance against Barcelona, on his day, he is still one of the best on the planet.
