Cristiano Ronaldo claimed the prime goal for Portugal, but it was officially awarded to Bruno Fernandes

There was lot of confusion over the opening goal between Portugal vs Uruguay on Monday night in a tense affair in World Cup group H.

A goalless first half had many wanting a more entertaining tie, though the first goal certainly opened things up from both sides.

Apparently a cross from Bruno Fernandes met the run of Cristiano Ronaldo, who appeared to flick the ball off his head and into the back of the net.

Ronaldo claimed the goal, wheeling off in celebration to score a second in what appears to be his final World Cup.

Confusion had arisen shortly after though as FIFA officially handed the goal to Ronaldo.

The announcer at the Lusali Stadium gave the goal to Fernandes.

FIFA eventually reversed their decision and gave the goal to the Manchester United playmaker.

"Boom Cristiano.", celebrating his goal shortly after releasing an interview with the striker that ended up in his exit from Manchester United.

The midfielder doubled his tally for the World Cup when he scored from the penalty spot after a handball in the box was given after a VAR check.
