Jack Sparrow from the Pirates of the Caribbean series is probably his most famous role. And following the death of Kori Stovell, one of his biggest Pirates of the Caribbean fans, who died at the age of 11 from an incurable heart condition, the actor took to Instagram stories to share his condolences.

He began ‘Sail on my fellow Captain You honored us with your life. You humbled and amazed us with the courage and strength to be able to smile through it all.

‘You’ve shown every one of us how to stay ahead of the curve with grace, humor, an incomprehensible understanding, and unparalleled dignity.

‘You are a warrior, mate…We will meet again on the highest of seas…All my love and respect to you and your family, as always X JD.’

Kori Stovell was born with hypoplastic left heart syndrome, which meant that the left side of his heart was underdeveloped. In 2018, he had a new heart implanted however, the organ was rejected, and thus in January 2020, he underwent a second transplant.

The child’s mother shared the news of her little boy’s death in a video message on social media that she uploaded with a caption that read ‘My precious boy set sail a little under an hour ago. I am beyond broken..’

One of Kori Stovell’s last wishes was to speak to his idol Captain Jack Sparrow – and the actor responded in December with the help of the charity Make-A-Wish.
