"Portal for Online Cyber ​Crime Complaint will be launched," says Rajnath Singh

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday asked to take charge of the new challenges of the cyber world crime and take effective steps to improve cybersecurity. Rajnath expressed concern over misuse of social media for unethical activities during a review meeting in the Ministry and directed to increase the efficiency of law enforcement agencies to deal with such challenges.

Rajnath appreciated the efforts made for accelerated security clearance of the proposals in sensitive areas. He expressed satisfaction that the average time of acceptance of proposals was four years ago, 120 days, which has now come down to 53 days. Rajnath instructed to coordinate with the administrative ministries for the process of proposals using the online system to further reduce the time for sanction. This will increase efficiency and monitoring.

Expressing concern over excessive internet abuse to spread child sexual depictions and other obscene material, the Home Minister instructed to launch online portal soon to register a complaint of cybercrime. Through this, the grievous States / Union Territories will be able to file a complaint, which will be investigated and action will be taken by the concerned agencies to remove such material.

Rajnath asked to be more vigilant against increasing cyber crimes and to conduct routine cyber auditing of IT infrastructure of all the organizations under the Home Ministry. He also directed the modernization and up-gradation of the National Information Security Policy and Direction (NISPG) of the Government Sector. Expressing concern over the incidents of money laundering by fraudulent means through phone, he emphasized the need to increase public awareness and strengthen institutional structure to prevent such fraud.
