In view of the failure of the Board of Control for Cricket in India of the players like Mohammed Shami and Ambati Rayudu, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to conduct a fitness test of the players before the selection to avoid the odd situations.

Sanju Samson was included in the Indian team for the tour of England, but he also got out of the team after failing in the Yo-Yo Test. Test teams of Afghanistan and Indian teams for limited overs against the Ireland and England were announced during the IPL. This issue was discussed in the meeting of the Cricket Administrators.

The meeting was attended by Chairman Vinod Rai, Diana Idulzi, BCCI CEO Rahul Johari and General Manager (Cricket Operations) Saba Karim.  The BCCI official said that the player will be selected in the team only after passing the fitness test from next time. The IPL was going on, so this time it was not so strict and we had to face the uncomfortable situation.

Ambati Rayudu had got a place in the Indian team due to his impressive performance in the IPL, but he did not meet the Yo-Yo Test. After this, Suresh Raina was selected in the squad for the ODI series in England. Mohammad Shami had failed in the Yo-Yo Test before the Test against Afghanistan and Delhi pacer Navdeep Saini was selected in the team.
