Faridabad: In a major action ahead of Diwali, a team of the Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST) department has sealed 21 firecracker godowns in Faridabad, adjoining the country's capital Delhi. More than Rs 50 lakh in cash has also been seized on charges of GST evasion. According to the information given by the officials, the value of the sealed goods is said to be more than Rs 10 crore.

Rajesh Kumar, Additional Commissioner of CGST Department, while talking to the media, has said that it took a lot of effort to carry out this action. Before conducting the raid, 14 people from the department were sent to talk to the godown owners to convince them that we really want to buy the goods.

Giving information about this action, he has said that the warehouses were built in a place where water is usually filled and movement work is not possible even without a bike. In such a situation, his team carried out the action of raiding the warehouses by climbing on the tractor. Rajesh Kumar has said that this raid before Diwali will at least protect against the pollution caused by these firecrackers.
