Bangalore: Parties have become active regarding the Karnataka assembly elections. BJP and Congress have geared up and are busy in specifying touch with the public. But, troubled by the chair fight in Rajasthan, now difficulties seem to be brewing in Karnataka as well for the Congress. Veteran Congress leader G Parameshwara himself has admitted that he is one of the contenders for the CM's post if the party comes to power after the Karnataka assembly elections, scheduled for April-May.
Five-time MLA Parameshwara said that the party's high command will decide on the next CM after the party wins the elections and added that he is ready if given a chance. State Congress unit president DK Shivakumar and Legislature Party leader Siddaramaiah are already eyeing the CM post in case the Congress comes to power and are very vocal about their aspirations. When asked a question regarding the possibility of a Dalit being made the CM if the Congress comes to power, Parameshwara said, we do not make the CM on the basis of someone's caste, whoever is capable in the situation at that time, CM is selected on the basis of his ability to fulfill the party's campaign and its principles. The Chief Minister is not selected on the basis that someone is a Dalit or belongs to another caste.
When asked about his aspiration for the post of CM, Parameshwara said, 'Why am I in politics? To come to power, everyone has aspirations, about 10 people in our party have aspirations to become CM, and I am also one of them.' Let us tell you that Parameshwara comes from the Dalit community and was the Deputy CM during the Congress-JD(S) coalition government led by HD Kumaraswamy. Parameshwara said that the prospects for the Congress party are 'very good' and he is confident that the party will form the government 100 percent and all the surveys are also leading the party.
