Menopause is a normal part of every woman’s life. It is the time when menstruation stops and a woman is no longer fertile. It maybe the time of the woman’s last period, but symptoms may start many years earlier.
Some of the symptoms associated with menopause are:-
1. Irregular periods: - This is the first symptom, where menstrual pattern changes.
2. Vaginal dryness: - This tends to happen during peri-menopause and could be accompanied with itching and discomfort.
3. Hot flashes: - Hot flashes are a sudden feeling of heat in the upper body. Hot flashes usually occur during the first year after a woman’s final period.
4. Sleeping problems: - Sleep disturbance may be caused due to anxiety or insomnia.
5. Mood swings: - Moods swings are usually associated with sleep disturbance and goes hand-in-hand.
6. Memory loss: - Some women may experience short-term memory loss as well as finding it hard to concentrate on something for a long time.
7. Low fertility: - Estrogen levels drop significantly therefore reducing the chances of becoming pregnant.
8. Breast tenderness: - Some women may experience breast tenderness when going through menopause.
9. Dizziness and vertigo: - Dizziness and vertigo is also a symptom associated with menopause.
10. Osteoporosis: - During menopause there is a greater risk of osteoporosis due to weak bones.
